The “fine-tooth comb” (pente-fino) is the popular name for the review task forces in which the INSS (Brazil’s National Social Security Institute) reevaluates benefits that have already been granted, especially those tied to disability, to verify that the requirements are still met. The insured person may be summoned for a new medical examination and must attend, or the payment may be suspended. If you disagree with the result, you can file an administrative appeal and seek to keep the benefit.
