A contractual warranty is an extra warranty that a manufacturer or seller offers voluntarily, usually in writing in a document known as a warranty certificate (termo de garantia). It adds to the statutory warranty and never replaces it, and it often extends the period during which you can complain about defects. An extended warranty sold separately is one example. Its terms must be clear and must be given to the consumer at the time of purchase.
