The period during which an insured worker keeps qualidade de segurado (insured status) even without making contributions. As a general rule, it lasts up to twelve months after the last contribution, and it can be extended in situations such as involuntary unemployment or a long history of contributions. During this period, the worker remains protected for purposes of receiving benefits.
