A chargeback is the reversal of a charge made to a credit or debit card. You request it from the card issuer when you find a purchase you don’t recognize, fraud, a duplicate charge, or a product that never arrived. After review, the disputed amount is refunded to the consumer. It is a useful tool for online purchases and in cases of scams, but you should use it in good faith, only to dispute charges that are truly improper.
